Dorothy Stokes at the N.P.A

Miss Dorothy Stokes was born in South Africa in 1898. She grew up in Dublin and died in December 1982 at the age of 84 years old.

Dorothy's father was a doctor in Dublin.

She worked at the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM) where she taught piano.

The "Dorothy Stokes Cup" is a piano competition as part of Feis Ceoil festival.

Havelock Nelson (1917–1996) was a prominent Irish composer and conductor who trained under the tutelage of Stokes.

The National Photographic Archive (NPA) holds 25 albums belonging to Stokes which date from 1925 - 1953
